MQM to launch cleanliness drive: Farooq Sattar
KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday announced to launch a cleanliness drive to rid the city of garbage and other "evils".
Instead of responding to criticism and allegations levelled by Dr Sagheer Ahmed on Monday, MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar relied on innuendos during the press conference when asked to comment on latest developments.
He said the party would use all the resources to remove heaps of garbage from every part of the city. “We also have services of a doctor at our disposal, ” he said while mentioning party’s candidate for deputy mayor Dr Arshad Wohra.
"We are launching cleanliness campaign from March 10 on the instructions of Altaf Hussain," he said, adding that party workers, councilors, chairmen and lawmakers would participate in "I own Karachi" campaign.
Dr Farooq Sattar said apart from removing garbage, the campaign would focus on covering manholes and plantation of trees in the city. He said a similar campaign would be launched in Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas within few days.
