Special court summons Musharraf on March 31

ISLAMABAD: The Special Court (SC) has directed former president Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf to appear before it in person on March 31 to record his statement in high treason case.

The SC also expressed resentment for not filing medical report by counsel for Pervez Musharraf in proper way in the court.

Justice Mazhar Mian Khair while presiding over a three-member bench of SC during the course of hearing of high treason case against Pervez Musharraf remarked, “The procedure you have adopted is not correct. You please file the report in proper way. The orders of Supreme Court are before us under which we have to record statement of former president Pervez Musharraf.”

At the inception of hearing of the case Tuesday, Akram Sheikh counsel for prosecution, filed orders of Supreme Court and report about the previous proceedings of special court and informed the court about the details.

“We want that statement of Pervez Musharraf be recorded and secondly the case he heard on day to day basis.”

Farogh Naseem, counsel for Pervez Musharraf, could not appear in the court and Faisal Chaudhry appeared in his place.

Faisal Chaudhry told the court that Pakistan Bar Council has given call of strike all over the country due to Shabqadar blast. Secondly Pervez Musharraf is unwell. Therefore, medical certificate is submitted.

Justice Mazhar while reprimanding Faisal Chaudhry remarked what was this way to present medical report. “You should have presented this report in proper way. You are handing over it directly to us.”

The court summoned Musharraf on March 31 to record his statement before it.

Faisal Chaudhry counsel for former president Pervez Musharraf will also file medical report in proper way.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till March 31.
