Shahbaz Taseer reunited with family in Lahore
Taseer family receives Shahbaz at airportLAHORE – Shahbaz Taseer, tecently freed son of former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, reached home from Allama Iqbal International Airport to a hero’s welcome.
After more than four years, Shahbaz finally arrived at his home residence in Lahore where family and friends were eagerly awaiting his return. People gathered at Taseer’s residence were extremely happy on the occasion and were seen distributing sweets.
Shahbaz was brought home surrounded by a convoy of cars. Here’s what Shahbaz’s wife Maheen tweeted upon the arrival of her husband: “Heartfelt gratitude for all your prayers for Shahbaz. Allah is kind and merciful. Allah will grant after hardship, ease.”
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz’s father-in-law Salman Ghani said that he was very much elated at his son-in-law’s return and thanked everyone for their prayers for Shahbaz. “My feelings and the feelings of the entire Pakistan are one,” he said.
When asked to tell more about what he was feeling at the moment, Ghani said: “There are some feelings which are so strong that they cannot be described. This is one of those feelings that I am unable to describe at the moment.” Senior politicians, lawmakers and ministers contacted Taseer family and congratulated them on the recovery of Shahbaz Taseer.
On Tuesday, the law enforcement agencies recovered Shahbaz Taseer from Kuchlak area of Balochistan, five years after he was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from Lahore. A statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the intelligence agencies have recovered Shahbaz Taseer, five years after he was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from Lahore.
Shahbaz was kidnapped on Aug 26, 2011 near his company’s head office. Social media users took to Facebook and Twitter to express their happiness upon his recovery and congratulated his family members. Earlier, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj Asim Bajwa tweeted that Shahbaz Taseer is being flown home (Lahore) from Quetta in a special aircraft. The security forces placed on high alert. The intelligence officials are with Shahbaz Taseer.
