BJP delegation calls on Bilawal

ISLAMABAD: A three-member Indian delegation led by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Jolly on Saturday called on Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Zardari House in Islamabad. Vijay Mehta and Lubna Asif were other members of the delegation, which has arrived in the federal capital to participate in a two-day workshop on human trafficking. The International Conference of Asian Political Parties is organising the event. Talking to the Indian delegation, Zardari laid stress on people-to-people contacts between the two countries. Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, Senator Farhatullah Babar and Political Secretary to PPP Chairman Jamil Soomro were also present. Separately, Zardari paid rich tributes to renowned revolutionary poet Habib Jalib on his 23rd death anniversary that was observed on Saturday. In his message, Zardari said that Jalib energised the people of Pakistan during the nation’s struggle for democracy led by Fatima Jinnah, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. He said that Jalib was an exclusive kind of a poet who used his magical words for the poor and downtrodden and raised their problems and converted their weaknesses and agonies into determinations to get rid of dictatorial forces. The PPP chairman said that his party always honoured and respected the literary figures who used their pen and God-gifted talent for the empowerment of the masses deprived of their democratic and basic rights.
