US consul general calls on Sindh governor
Brian assures USAID will continue to help, assist Sindh in improvement of infrastructure facilities specially in social sector

KARACHI - Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that Pakistan values the multi dimensional relations with the United States and there was an urgent need for expanding them further in the fields of sustainable peace, energy, economy and defence.
He said this while talking to the Consul General of USA in Karachi, Brian Heath, at Governor's House here on Tuesday. He said that the armed forces of Pakistan have made tremendous sacrifices in war against terrorism and extremism which has been acknowledged and praised by entire world. Due to their unprecedented contributions, the entire region is becoming a safer place, he observed.
The Sindh governor further said that Pakistan-US cooperation was needed even more to strengthen bilateral relations and to end poverty and unemployment. Improved law and order situation in Karachi has resulted in better investment opportunities and it was the right time to capitalise on these, he said.
He lauded the contributions and cooperation of USAID specially in the field of health and education. Their projects have ensured improved healthcare and education facilities to the masses of even far flung areas of the province, he maintained.
Citing the example of Jacobabad Institute of Health Sciences (JIMS), which is being established with the cooperation of USAID, he said that this state of the art health facility would not only cater for the treatment needs of the patients from upper districts of Sindh but would provide healthcare facilities to the adjoining areas of Balochistan also.
He said that people of Sindh were very thankful to the USA for providing help and assistance in specially health and education sectors and for improvement of infrastructure of basic amenities in the province. He hoped that this cooperation would continue and grow even further in future years.
Consul General Brian Heath lauded the role of Pakistan Army in war against terrorism and said Pakistan Army has gained enormous success against terrorists and extremists with utmost bravery. He assured that USAID would continue to help and assist Sindh in improvement of infrastructure facilities specially in social sector.
