India grants visas to Pathankot probe team
Nawaz assures Modi for cooperation in terror attack's probe
LAHORE – India has granted visas to Pakistani probe team members dispatched to assist Indian authorities in probe against Pathankot airbase attack.
A private TV channel reported that Seven-day visas have been given to six members of the team. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had formed a team including representatives of different intelligence agencies to provide relative material to Indian authorities.
A special team was put together that was tasked with assistance of Indian departments that are probing the airbase attack. On January 2, six militants had stormed Pathankot airbase in Indian Punjab killing around seven personnel. Repercussions of the attack in regard to tensions between Pakistan and India were not as bad as the case has been in the past years.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had immediately taken Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in confidence over a telephone call, even though he was on a foreign tour. He had assured Modi for cooperation in terror attack’s probe. Indian media claimed that neighbouring country’s team would visit India in last week of March.
