Sartaj, Sushma share breakfast in Nepal

POKHARA – Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had breakfast together and were seen exchanging pleasantries ahead of their formal meeting in Pokhra on Thursday (today) on the sidelines of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit.

Indian channel reported that both the leaders – accompanied by other dignitaries and officials – were seen sitting next to each other on the breakfast table. The SAARC Inter-Summit Ministerial Meeting is being held in Pokhara, Nepal from 14-17 March 2016. Sartaj Aziz is leading the Pakistan delegation to attend the Council of Ministers Meeting.

Earlier, Sartaj Aziz met Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday in Pokhara. The informal meeting between the two neighbouring countries was held at a dinner hosted in the honour of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. On the occasion, both the leaders exchanged their views on several issues. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan-India foreign secretary level talks were suspended after the gunmen attack at Indian airbase at Pathankot.

Sartaj said that special investigation team from Pakistan will soon be visiting India to probe the Pathankot airbase attack. The raid on the air base stalled efforts to revive bilateral talks between the neighbours after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an unscheduled visit to his Pakistani counterpart, Nawaz Sharif, in December.
