Musharraf should face law for his crimes: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal Thursday said the former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf should face the law ‘for the crimes he had committed’.

In a statement issued here, Ahsan Iqbal clarified that some of the TV anchors were misquoting him on Musharraf’s issue.

“I had said I had said that if Mush (Musharraf) leaves the country without facing ‘courts’ then I would quit politics. I had said this when there were rumours that a plane had come to take him and Mush (Musharraf) will slip out of country without facing the court in treason case,” he said.

He said Musharraf finnaly appeared before the court and the supremacy of the law was established.

Ahsan Iqbal said later Musharraf once again approached the court to seek permission for leaving the country. “My personal view is still that he should face the law for the crimes he committed,” he added.
