MQM marks foundation day, vows to overcome ‘new challenge’
KARACHI: Dr Farooq Sattar on Friday said the MQM would not derail due to a new challenge which it was facing, a reference to increasing defections and allegations the party has been facing since the arrival of Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani.
Speaking at the foundation day ceremony of the party, he said the new challenge was thrown in MQM’s way to derail it. “We will keep moving forward with unity and solidarity within our ranks,” he said.
He said the MQM received people’s mandate in the elections and there was nothing new in the allegations the party was facing.
“The allegations we are facing now are the same which we have faced since the day one,” he said.
He said since the allegations have been leveled through the media the MQM too was responding through media. “If allegations are brought in courts, we will defend ourselves in courts,” said Dr Farooq Sattar, rejecting the impression that the MQM was avoiding courts due to its weak stance.
