US to support projects like CPEC, TAPI: official
ISLAMABAD: The government of the United States of America will support mega projects such as China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline because these projects will enhance regional connectivity. American Embassy Charg’d Affaires Jonathan Pratt said this on Thursday while speaking at a question-answer session after addressing The Leaders Summit. He discussed the benefits of regional economic connectivity and American assistance to Pakistan at summit, a daylong conference sponsored by organisations such as Nutshell Forum. Focusing on the theme of “The BIG Rethink’, the event featured discussions on innovation, leadership, energy, culture, diversity, business strategy and crisis management. “On regional connectivity, what we have tried to do, is build a strategy that would increase trade and improve relations in the region between neighbors,” Pratt said. “If the region is better connected with better business relationships, we hope that will support ongoing improvement in political relationships,” he remarked.
