Bilalwal slams govt for apathy towards rain affected areas

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday criticized the government for what he said government’s apathy towards areas affected by heavy rains in northern Pakistan.

In a statement issued by the PPP, he said, “government is sitting cross-legged while the unseasoned rains, hailstorm joined by land-sliding and avalanches inflicting heavy losses in terms of precious human lives, livestock and crops and other agriculture produces in several parts of the country”

The PPP chairman said rulers in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa didn't wake up even after torrential rains ravaged vast areas. “The federal government extended no support to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir where heavy rains caused land sliding and destruction of houses in many areas,” he was quoted as saying in the statement.

PPP Chairman expressed deep concern over the loss of human lives, property and damage caused to the standing crops and demanded the federal government to immediately provide compensation and relief to all the affected areas without any discrimination.

Bilawal Bhutto expressed sympathy and solidarity with the families of fellow citizens who lost their near loved ones in the rain and assured all the affected farmers and growers that his party will raise its voice at every forum for adequate compensation and relief.
