ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan Monday said on Monday that former president Pervez Musharraf would be brought back to Pakistan through Interpol whenever the court issues order in this regard. Responding to points raised by the leader of the opposition in the joint session of parliament, the minister assured the House that all possible options, including Interpol, would be used to bring Musharraf back to the country if he doesn’t come himself. He said Musharraf’s name was removed from the Exit Control List (ECL) in the light of the Supreme Court judgement. He said during the five-year tenure of PPP government, the then opposition extended fullest possible cooperation for action against Musharraf, but the government remained silent. The minister also reminded the PPP that it entered into National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) with General Musharraf and gave him a safe passage. He urged political parties to strengthen the government’s hands to ensure rule of law in the country. He said Musharraf was also implicated in the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto as per the FIR of the case, but the PPP government “failed miserably” to take action against him. Nisar also claimed that it was not in his knowledge that a court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Musharraf.
