President says Pakistan Day is our ideological identity

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has lauded the role of armed forces and said that Pakistan’s military is fully equipped to foil enemies' evil designs.

Addressing Pakistan Day Parade ceremony here Wednesday, the President reaffirmed the resolve to take the operation against terrorism to its logical conclusion.

He said the operation Zarb-e-Azb has entered its final phase in North Waziristan and “our destination is to end lawlessness and terrorism from all parts of the country.”

President Mamnoon Hussain went on to say that Pakistan desires cordial relations with all the countries especially the neighbours, however, this desire should not be misconstrued as our weakness.

“Kashmir is jugular vein of Pakistan and we want peaceful resolution of this longstanding dispute,” he said and reiterated that Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their right to self-determination.

He said March 23 is a day of Pakistan’s ideological identity.

Earlier, in a message on Pakistan Day, President Mamnoon stated that the key to Pakistan's stability and development lies in democracy.

He said, "Let me remind you on this important occasion that Pakistan came into being through a long democratic struggle and now the key to its stability and development also lies in democracy."

"It is essential to promote the spirit of tolerance and patience, which are the fundamentals of democracy so that the existing challenges of extremism and terrorism can be overcome by the nation," he added.
