Pakistan to play its part in global efforts against terrorism: president
Mamnoon says Pakistan will continue its support for freedom of Kashmiris
ISLAMABAD – President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said that Pakistan was playing a vital role against extremism and terrorism and would play its part in global efforts to fight these threats to bring peace to the world.
Addressing the Pakistan Day Parade here at the Shakarparian ground, the president said that Pakistan has always stood for peace and its efforts in this regard have been globally recognized. Mamnoon said that Pakistan is never a part of ‘weapons race’ and won’t be.
The president greeted the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zakaullah, Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and others in the beginning of his address.
Mamnoon said that spirits of the armed forces mark higher than the mountains. He said that enemies had not expected Pakistan to set off on a journey as rewarding as it has been owing to the hardworking nation. He added that Pakistan was never a part of ‘weapons race’ and still is not.
President said that the nation has offered great sacrifices not for the establishment of Pakistan but for its progress as well. He said that Pakistan wanted friendly ties with neighboring countries; however, the goodwill should not be taken as weakness. He said that Kashmir was Pakistan’s part. Armed forces achieved unmatchable success in war on terror.
The president said that operation Zarb-e-Azb has stepped in final phase and would conclude soon. Mamnoon did not leave Kashmir out of his speech. He added that Pakistan would continue its support for freedom of Kashmiris. The president said that authorities wanted to utilize resources for the betterment of the people.
