PML-N wins NA-101 by-election of Wazirabad
WAZIRABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) candidate Justice (r) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema won in NA-101 by-election (Wazirabad) held on Tuesday. According to unofficial results of 163 polling stations, out of the total 262, PML-N’s candidate Justice (r) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema got 83,166 votes, while his rival PTI candidate Muhammad Ahmed Chatta bagged 80,355. According to Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) senior officials, the ECP had set up 262 polling stations, 43 for men, 43 for women and 176 combined, in NA-110. ECP made foolproof security arrangements for free, fair and peaceful polling. Wazirabad Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Anwar Baryar said 11 polling stations were declared sensitive. The CCTV cameras were also installed to monitor the polling, he added. Paramilitary troops were patrolling in the constituency to ensure peace and law and order. In PS-23 Naushero Feroze by-election, the candidate of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won. He obtained 36,810 votes. His rival Riaz Korai secured only 207 votes.
