‘PM visit to help boost economic ties with US’

ISLAMABAD – Defence analyst air marshal (r) Shahid Lateef has said that the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the United States has huge significance and it will help boost economic and defence ties with the US.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that the participation of Pakistan in nuclear summit is quite significant as it would be helpful for Pakistan to get membership of nuclear supplier group.
He said that Pakistan has one of the best nuclear systems in the world and even its system is more efficient than India. He added that Pakistan has a good command and control system and its nuclear assets are in safe hands.
The former air marshal said that terrorism was an international issue and Pakistan has played a very important role in eliminating this menace. He also said that these sincere efforts of Pakistan are to maintain the safety and security of not only Pakistan but the whole world. “Pakistan's inclusion in nuclear supplier group must be endorsed by global powers as Pakistan is in dire need of this membership to meet its energy needs,” he said.
“Pakistan and United States are closely connected with each other in economic terms. We have a long history of relations with US. Pakistan is turning out to be a hub of economic activity and all major powers are looking at Pakistan with building close ties,” Shahid said, to a question.
