Rescue operation for evacuation of buried students in progress: ISPR

PESHAWAR: Rescue operation continued for sixth consecutive day to recover the bodies of students burried under an avalanche in Karimabad area of Chitral district, said an ISPR press release on Thursday. On March 19, nine students were trapped in the snow due to landslide in Karimabad and a rescue operation was launched by Chitral Scouts along with the civil administration and locals of the area. Pak Army moved its specialised engineers’ rescue teams with equipment and sniffer dogs while army aviation flew three sorties for the transportation of teams and equipment to the site. Urban Search and Rescue teams of NDMA and CDA with ground penetration radar with life object locator and snow melting chemical have also been transported to Chitral and employed in rescue operation. Major General Nadir Khan visited the site and is supervising the rescue operation.
