Punishing PM not easy, says Aitzaz

But giving clean chit will also not be possible; delay in Panama case verdict not justified

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Leader of the Opposition in Senate Aitzaz Ahsan has said that a delay in the Panama case verdict is not justified, adding that forming a commission at such level will be tantamount to stretching the matter, while the prime minister’s family has admitted to owning assets abroad and sentencing them is not easy but giving a clean chit will also not possible, a private TV channel reported on Wednesday.

Talking to the media in the Parliament House, Aitzaz said the Panama case verdict must have been released on the first day. Giving a clean chit to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also not be possible.

The PPP leader and renowned lawyer said that prime minister’s family has admitted to having assets abroad. Prime minister’s family has to provide all evidences of those assets, while Nawaz Sharif’s stance in defence cannot be accepted.

Aitzaz said that the whole business could not be made white if anyone came from Qatar or Emirates with a letter, adding that declaring Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s business white will create anarchy.

Aitzaz adopted the stance that court must have convened the prime minister, but he was not convened, then at least the court should have ordered him to provide all records.
