They are after my father’s business, says Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has on Tuesday stated that if “they” want to carry out his accountability then the process should start from 1937, “when God started blessing us”, “they are just after my father’s business”, he added.

He was talking to reporters in the accountability court at the hearing of the London flats case against him and his family.

Nawaz questioned why the new corruption references were filed when nothing had been proved in the old references, adding that ‘there’s nothing in our case but even then something is being dug up’.

“Rental power and NICL are cases where corruption was proved,” he said, referring to the scams in the previous government of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

“No one should have any expectations about this”, Nawaz said when he was asked about Former President, General (r) Pervez Musharraf’s plan of returning and facing the trial in Pakistan.

Maryam Nawaz said that all the documents presented in the court had been filed by ‘them’. “The case is baseless,” she said, adding, “first they said the flats our mine, now they claim they belong to my father”.

Maryam also remarked that ones who blamed her family of corruption should prove it instead of asking how they got these assets.

Maryam accused that Imran Khan’s false documents were considered authentic and even when he accepted his offshore company’s ownership he was exonerated of all the charges.
