Govt regularizes 4732 PSM workers
KARACHI: Some 4732 contract workers of the Pakistan Steels Mill (PSM) have been regularized, Federal Minister of Industries and Production Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani said Saturday.Speaking at a ceremony at the PSM, he announced a bailout package of Rs20 billion was being prepared for the ailing mill. The package, he said, would once again prop up the cash-strapped mill.
He said the government would not privatize the Steels Mill and would rather turn it into a profitable entity. The government would set up a separate department to look after the expansion and maintenance of the PSM, he added.
At the end of ceremony, the federal minister presented confirmation letters among the jubilant PSM workers.
