NAB plea on Sharifs references dismissed
RAWALPINDI: The Accountability Court in Rawalpindi has dismissed NAB’s petition seeking the restoration of three pending corruption references against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz.
NAB in its plea contended that the corruption references against Nawaz and his family should be restored.
NAB’s lawyer had prayed for the revival of pending references, including default on payment of loan by Ittefaq Foundries, default on payment of tax by the Sharifs on Hudabia Paper Mills, as well as a third reference regarding their Raiwand Assets. NAB had argued that the government’s decision to delay references against the Sharif brothers was an administrative issue.
The court judge Wamiq Javed in his decision said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) petition for reopening of the reference was not signed by the NAB chairman so as the cases could not be reopened.
