Free power supply to Wapda employees may go; Senate told
ISLAMA BAD: The Senate was told that the government was reviewing its policy of free electricity supply to the Wapda employees while legislation was being done to stop bonded child labor.
The opposition lawmakers raised the issue of hiring and promotions in National Bank of Pakistan. On this the Senate chairman asked for a detailed report within a week.
The members of Jamiat Ulema Islam and other opposition senators staged a walkout on the issue of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-Package.
Manpower Minister Khurshid Shah said that legislation was being done to stop forced labor facing by 3.3 million children in the country.
Senator Tahir Azeem told the house that Wapda workers were getting 9 million free units a month despite the worst power crisis.
Water and Power Minister Raja Parvez Ahsraf replied that efforts were being made to end such practices.
