Crime scene was washed in minutes,says ex-Pindi mayor
RAWALPINDI: The site of Benazir’s assassination was hosed down within five-to-ten minutes of the blast, and the suicide attacker – who was present inside Liaquat Bagh – rushed from the inside towards Benazir’s car and detonated his explosives near the man who initially shot at Benazir, according to former mayor of Rawalpindi and senior PPP leader, Agha Riazul Islam. The PPP leader was talking to the media informally at a dinner he hosted on Monday. Agha was in charge of the organising committee of the public meeting on December 27, 2007, at Liaquat Bagh, which culminated in the assassination of Benazir. “There are several questions in the minds of the people ... who were the people who stopped Benazir’s car, how did CPO Saud Aziz know that Benazir would come out from her car, why was the rear tyre of the vehicle flat when Benazir was going back, why was the lady doctor who confirmed the death of Benazir later sent home and the male staff replaced her?” staff report
