MQM mulls over PM’s remarks on Hyderabad
LONDON: The Coordination Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement is discussing the situation arising out of the Prime Minster’s remarks on restructuring of Hyderabad Divsion.
The meeting is underway in Karachi and London simultaneously with Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar, Anwar Alam, Salim Shahzad, Mustafa Azizabadi, Mustafa Kamal, Babar Ghauri, Adil Siddiqi, Wasim Akhtar and others among the participants.
According to MQM sources, all options are being considered in the wake of PM’s remarks on Hyderabad. The MQM has called for intervention of President Asif Ali Zardari in this regard.
Sources quoted MQM leaders saying that they would not accept any unilateral decision on Hyderabad and threatened to part ways with PPP if such decisions continued.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Sindh senior minister Pir Mazhar ul Haq contacted the members of Rabita Committee on phone.
The Rabita Committee made it clear to PPP that the PM’s spokesman statement was not enough and demanded direct interference by President Zardari on the issue.
