Saifur Rehman filed Swiss cases on political basis: Babar Awan

LAHORE: The Swiss cases were filed by former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Saifur Rehman on a political basis, and the Swiss attorney general said it was a “past and closed transaction,” Federal Law Minister Dr Babar Awan said on Saturday. Talking to the media, after the oath taking ceremony of the office bearers of the tehsil Ferozewala Bar Association, Awan said that the statement of the Swiss government about these cases was on record, in which the Swiss attorney general had said that it was a “past and closed transaction.” He added that he agreed with the statement of the Swiss attorney general. To a question about former Bank of Punjab president Hamesh Khan, the minister said that the government believes in accountability and it would never support anyone who fled from it. Awan said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was ‘uninformed’ if he had given any statement about Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) support to Hamesh Khan. app
