Aitzaz for shunning clash of state organs

LAHORE: Former president Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan Saturday said any clash of the state organs must be avoided at all costs.

Talking to media men after witnessing an art exhibition here, Aitzaz said Babar Awan has been tasked with enunciating the government’s policy and strategy on May 25 while the Supreme Court has to make the ruling.

On the occasion, he clarified that he never had any meeting with the former president of the Bank of Punjab Hamesh Khan. He said he had taken a handsome fee from the family of Shaikh Haris Afzal and paid tax on the same. “If I received the money for influencing the verdict, I would also be appearing before the court,” he added.

To a question, Aitzaz Ahsan said he is neither a spokesman of the Supreme Court nor of Dr. Babar Awan. He said: “Wait for May 25, the situation will be cleared up by then.”
