Daily Times Monitor
LAHORE: Former president Pervez Musharraf has said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have failed to govern Pakistan, a private TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the channel, Musharraf confirmed that he would contest the next general election as he had decided to join politics on the demand of the general public. He was addressing the first ever meeting of his party, All-Pakistan Muslim League, at his residence in London.
Over 50 eminent personalities, including Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif and former presidential spokesman Rashid Qureshi, attended the meeting.
Musharraf said politics should be above personal interests, and rulers must serve the nation, as the country was facing multiple challenges.
He also said he would return to the country and would face circumstances bravely.
The meeting also deliberated upon Musharraf’s return to Pakistan and other party matters.
Another channel reported that the All-Pakistan Muslim League has started its political activities, and the London meeting was the first political activity of the party, led by the former president, who is expected to visit the US on May 18.
