Aitezaz believes govt can move against Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: Former president of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Aitezaz Ahsan said the government has powers to take action on its own against Former President Gen (rtd) Pervez Musharraf without any judicial interference, Geo News reported Wednesday.

Talking to media outside the SC premises, he said it is up to the government to file a lawsuit.

Responding a query, the former lawyers’ movement leader said the President is fully authorized to waive the sentence and he can condone it altogether.

He added it is quite possible that the court keeps convicting and the President keeps giving pardon by using powers vested in him.

Responding another query, Aitezaz said Federal Interior Minister Rehman A Malik could continue as minister and senator, until and unless he was held ineligible by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the recommendation by the Senate Chairman.
