PDMA warns of Hunza lake overflowing

ALPURI: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday warned the administrations of Kohistan, Shangla, Batagram and Mansehra of the bursting of the banks of the Hunza landslide lake. The districts have been declared “red zones” in the wake of the disaster. According to the authority, 41,340 people in the four districts could be affected in case the lake’s banks burst, with 30 villages in danger of destruction in Kohistan district alone. It is feared that Kumail bazaar area will be affected the most where more than 1,900 people live. sarfaraz khan
