Shahbaz defends Sasti Roti Scheme
LAHORE: Punjab’s Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has defended the Sasti Roti Scheme, saying people, who are dying of hunger, cannot be deprived of affordable food.
Addressing the provincial cabinet here on Friday, he said the Sasti Roti Scheme would continue despite criticism from some quarters.
About corruption allegations leveled by senior minister Raja Riaz in the SRS, the chief minister said corruption is prevalent in Wapda and irrigation department also. Does it mean that we should close it, he questioned?
Meanwhile, Punjab Cabinet approved Motor Vehicle Ordinance Amendment Bill 1965, under which the family of accident’s victim would get Rs160, 000 instead of Rs16, 000 only.
He also constituted a committee with the task to review the 18th Amendment Bill. Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa will head the committee.
