Shahbaz wants change in thana culture

LAHORE: Change in the thana culture is a must for restoring the confidence of the public in police, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Saturday.
The Punjab chief minister was chairing a meeting to review the improvement in the performance of police at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Shahbaz said that protection of the life and property of the masses would not be possible until police officials had fear of accountability. He said that the police stations should facilitate the masses instead of becoming symbols of terror and exploitation. The Punjab chief minister said that the performance of police could not be improved until men of good character were recruited to the force. Shahbaz said that the salaries of the Punjab Police officials had been increased and other facilities had also been provided to the force and now it was the responsibility of the institution to deliver results.
