Rangers’ authority extended to three months in Karachi

KARACHI: The Rangers’ authority has been extended from one to three months under the Anti-Terrorist Act to curb target killings in the city, as special police commandos have also been deployed. Moreover, movement and possession of arms in the city has been restricted and the government has announced Rs 10 million as reward for information to help trace the murderers. The decisions were taken at a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah at the CM’s House on Saturday. It was also decided to take actions against all criminals suspected of being involved in such heinous crimes. Qaim stressed the need to impose strict security measures, particularly in Karachi, and directed for the culprits’ arrest. staff report
