Malik orders Rangers’ deployment at SC

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik in a high level meeting here on Sunday reviewed the plan prepared by the law-enforcement agencies for foolproof security during the 18th Amendment case hearing by the full bench the Supreme Court (SC) starting on Monday (today).

After a detailed review, he directed the authorities to deploy additional personnel in some areas to beef up the security. Malik said the senior leadership of the government had given clear instructions to ensure security and sanctity of the judges.

The minister directed Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Islamabad police to ensure that no lapses occur and a senior police officer of the rank of DIG shall supervise the security arrangements at the SC.

The minister ordered deployment of Rangers as Quick Reaction Force (QRF). He was informed that the internal security of the court was with the SC authorities. ICT administration has coordinated with the SC administration and the SC staff would be deployed at the gates of the court for verification of entrants.

The minister directed the Islamabad Inspector General of Police to visit SC personally and supervise all the security arrangements and submit a certificate of satisfaction by 9am on Monday.

The minister also directed NADRA to immediately establish a control room and
activate security cameras.

He directed ICT administration to remain vigilant and adopt zero tolerance policy for ensuring law and order in the federal capital.
