BoP scam: SC not happy with NAB’s inquiry
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Wednesday expressed non-confidence over investigations carried out so far by the National Accountability Bureau against the lawyers, who had charged millions of rupees in Bank of Punjab scandal case.Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, reprimanding the NAB officials, asked why the Bureaus’ Prosecutor General was not arrested.
“We are aware that NAB is under pressure, he said, adding the only option we now have is to call everybody and carry out probe ourselves.”
Had the NAB performed its obligation in right manner, billions of rupees would not have been transferred to foreign countries, the chief justice remarked.
“The nation’s money should be brought back no matter is inside our outside the country,”
he said.Justice Khalil ur Rehman Ramday said those who are arrested by the court are elevated to even higher positions the very next day.
“Thieves are being protected and we are being pushed to the wall,” he remarked.
