Aitzaz says turned down offer to become AG

KARACHI: PPP leader and former SCBA President Aitzaz Ahsan said Friday that he would have accompanied Federal Law Minister Babar Awan to the Supreme Court if the government had asked him to do so.

Interacting with media persons at the Sindh High Court Bar, Ahsan said that he was not included in the team fighting 18th Amendment case in the Supreme Court.

“I would have represented the parliament and the government in 18th Amendment case if the government had asked me to do so,” he said.

He said that Babar Awan got so much fame in the Supreme Court, which Latif Khosa had also failed to secure.

To a question, the former SCBA president said that Babar Awan could be called the cabinet’s vice captain.

“The government had offered me the position of Attorney General, which I declined,” he said.
