Hamesh remand extended to June 9


KARACHI: A local accountability court here extended 11 days to the remand of former President of Bank of Punjab Hamesh Khan till June 9, Geo News reported Saturday.

The officials of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented Hamesh Khan, the main accused in the Bank of Punjab fraud case, before the court amid beefed up security.

Two senior officials of the US Consulate also were present at the court.

The court asked Khan whether the Nab officials were mistreating him; to which he responded in negation smilingly.

Therefore, his remand was extended over his satisfaction with the investigation process.

Hamesh is accused of sanctioning loans worth Rs9 billion to Sheikh Afzal, the chief executive of Haris Steel Mills, on fake identity cards.

The NAB said so far Rs6.10 billion have been recovered in the Bank of Punjab scam case.
