Medical aid for Hunza to continue: Shahbaz
* Punjab CM expresses satisfaction over professionalism, commitment of doctors, paramedics in Punjab
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif vowed on Sunday that the provision of medical aid to the affected people in Hunza would continue unabated.
Presiding over a meeting to review the rehabilitation work in the area, he said the Punjab government had dispatched a new consignment of 1.5 tonnes of medicine on Saturday and the supply of medicines would continue until the demand was met.
Shahbaz directed secretary Health to ensure the proper utilisation of the medicines.
Satisfaction: The chief minister expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the doctors and paramedical staff of Punjab were performing their professional responsibilities with commitment and dedication, besides visiting various calamity-hit villages to treat patients rather than limiting their services to relief camps.
He also appreciated the humanitarian spirit and professional commitment of the members of the medical teams who had left their homes for serving their ailing brethren.
While giving their report on the relief activities to the chief minister, Health Deaprtment authorities informed that the medical teams from Punjab were providing medical assistance to patients in Chillat, Minapin and Ghanaish. Most of the patients are suffering from pneumonia, respiratory and skin diseases. They said the medical team also included lady doctors and paramedical staff who were providing gynae and paeds service.
Shahbaz was informed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif was in constant contact with the affected people of Hunza and the leaders of PML-N Hunza.
Various senators, parliamentarians and senior officers form the Health and Relief departments attended the meeting. app
