MQM hints at joining federal cabinet

 

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) hinted at rejoining the federal cabinet after party’s chief, Altaf Hussain, and party’s coordination committee gave green signal to the party’s Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar, Daily Times learnt on Sunday. In this regard, MQM’s delegation, led by Dr Farooq Sattar, would hold a meeting with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani today (Monday) and finalise the date of rejoining the federal cabinet. Sources said that the Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, telephoned the co-ordination committee in London on Saturday and expressed the desire that the MQM rejoin the federal cabinet. After his detailed discussions, the committee held a joint meeting on Sunday and discussed issues and matters relating to rejoining the federal cabinet in detail. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani also telephoned the MQM chief, Altaf Hussain, on Sunday and expressed his condolences over the martyrdom of MQM leader Liaquat Ali Qureshi. staff report
