MQM’s concerns will be duly addressed: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of MQM, led by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency on Tuesday and discussed law and order situation in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, and matters relating to coalition in Sindh. Members of the delegation included Dr Farooq Sattar, Senator Babar Khan Ghauri, Dr Saghir, Waseem Aftab and Adil Siddiqui. Minister for Interior Rehman Malik and spokesperson to the president, Farhatullah Babar, were also present at the meeting. The MQM delegation also discussed the current economic situation and made some suggestions for the upcoming budget and to address critical economic issues facing the country. The president condoled with the MQM delegation the death of MQM leader and a former MPA, Liaquat Qureshi, and other party activists, assuring that perpetrators of the crime would be taken into custody and brought to justice. The delegation also raised some issues regarding coalition government in Sindh. Zardari said that PPP firmly believed in taking along all allies and coalition partners and assured the MQM delegation that their concerns regarding coalition government in Sindh would be duly addressed. The delegation assured the PPP co-chairman that as coalition partner, the MQM would continue to support the government with a view to addressing the problems facing the country. app
