Notices issued to DG FIA, others
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court has issued show cause notices to the D.G. FIA and other officers removed from the investigations in the Hajj scandal case.
Supreme Court six-member larger bench headed by the Chief Justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.
Attorney General told the court that a summary was with the prime minister for bringing back FIA’s two officers Javed Bukhari and Hussain Asghar earlier removed from the investigations of the case.
Secretary establishment told that the prime minister could not sign on this summary due to his preoccupation with the fallouts of the Abbotabad incident. When the secretary establishment shifted the responsibility of removal of the two officers to the interior ministry, then CJ remarked DG FIA responsible for it. The chief justice enquired whom to ask about the appointment of Rao Shakeel and from whom to find out the evidences that Hussain Asghar had collected against Shagufta Jumani.
The chief justice said that the shame that Hajj corruption brought was beyond imagination.
FIA presented record in the court according to which Hussain Asghar and Javed Bukhari had themselves sought separation from the investigations of this case.
The court then issued show cause notices to the DG FIA and the two officers.
Chief Justice said that whenever some headway made in the investigations of the corruption case, interference begins.
Later, the hearing of the case was adjourned until June 3.
