Citizens urged to use water judiciously to avoid shortage

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has urged the citizens to use water judiciously in their daily routine to avoid shortage in the coming days with a warning to take actions against lavish users.
The civic body on behalf of CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi issued an open letter to all residents of Islamabad with a view to seek their active participation for its anti- littering drive and judicious use of water. The letter says, ‘Islamabad is one of the most beautiful cities on the globe developed with a proper planning and aesthetics. We are lucky to be the resident of this beautiful city where not only people across the Pakistan but many of the foreigners wish to abide in.’ The letter readout that challans would be issued to those who waste water on washing cars, gardening and other chores, however, those who will not avoid lavish use of water, the authority will cancel their connections.
CDA will also take action against those who have installed water pumps and motors at the end of the streets for dragging extra water from the pipelines, causing troubles for others.
The letter calls upon the traders to properly dispose off the junks of their respective shops and put waste of the shop outside while closing it during the night. Wall chalking portray ugly picture of the city, so strictly avoid wall-chalking and pasting advertising material on the walls and signboards. Similarly, throwing juice packets and plastic bottles in the open areas in the parks and recreational places causes nuisance and earn a bad name for the residents. In this regard CDA has already installed proper dustbins in these areas for cleanliness purpose.
The civic body informed the residents through the open letter that under section 5(29) of CDA Environmental Protection Regulations, 2008, a person or persons would be fined for violating anti-littering law within the federal capital and would be charged with Rs 50 to Rs300 fine on the spot.
