Pakistan must reject foreign aid: Nawaz
SIALKOT: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif Thursday stressed that Pakistan no longer needs to depend on foreign aid and alms, adding ‘we will produce our own resources’, Geo News reported.
Addressing a public meeting in Sialkot, Nawaz Sharif underlined the need to get united for changing the country’s fate. “We can overcome the challenges being confronted by the country by becoming one solid unit as a nation,” he added.
He said he felt great amount of pain looking at the prevailing situation in the country. “Never had I imagined that people would have to face such difficulties … there is unemployment, poverty and loadshedding,” he regretted.
The PML-N Chief recalled that during the time of his rule there was no loadshedding in the country nor was there any terrorism.
He said (government is) going everywhere around the world begging for aid and alms. “Did Quad-e-Azam made Pakistan for holding a begging bowl?” he questioned, adding instead of begging what Pakistan need today was a commitment to strive for changing the present circumstances.
Nawaz Sharif said the Nation’s honor was in rejecting foreign aid. Nation’s dignity demands that we say no to aid, he added.
He said the hard earned money of the people is being spent on President and Prime Minister houses, adding Rs1 million is the amount of daily expenditure on Prime Minister House.
The PML-N Chief said he built Motorway and introduced Yellow Cab scheme without hanging a hand for begging.
“We never compromised country’s dignity … we carried out nuclear tests despite world pressure,” he said, adding the US president at the time had offered an aid of Rs5 billion.
He said today, his party was fighting for the future of the coming generations and invited the people to come forward to join him and make a pledge to put an end to ‘dirty deeds of the Establishment’.
