Awan invites Nawaz to contest by-polls

LAHORE: The leader of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Senator Babar Awan has asked Nawaz Sharif to withdraw boycott of parliament and invited the latter to contest in by-polls of National Assembly (NA), Geo News reported Sunday.

“For this, PPP is ready to do whatever it takes,” Awan vowed.

To a press conference at the residence of Raja Riaz, a senior PPP leader, Babar said Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has been boycotting Punjab Assembly for last six months.

“It would be difficult for Punjab government to bar growers’ rally because the government is perpetrating cruelty by not purchasing wheat from farmers,” he feared.

He said the accountability law is in practice only because of PML-N, adding that foreign-funded projects for clean drinking water and cleanliness of canals should not be halted.

He claimed that the federal government is determined to form judicial commission to probe into Abbottabad incident.

He demanded that PML-N should not insist on its favorite names to form judicial commission instead it should become part of discussions on this issue.
