Commission on Abbottabad incident
Honour parliament’s resolution: Nawaz
* PML-N chief asks govt to point out and punish those responsible for Abbottabad and PNS Mehran incidents
* Judges who gave relief to dictators should be held accountable
SARGODHA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, on Saturday, stressed the need for implementing the resolution passed by parliament for an independent commission to investigate the Abbotabad incident.
Addressing a big public gathering held in connection with Youm-e-Takbir outside the Circuit House, he said that the time had come to implement the unanimous resolution of parliament and those responsible for Abbottabad and PNS Mehran incidents should be pointed out and punished.
Nawaz said if the rulers did not honour the resolutions passed by the elected assembly and did not shun the habit of throwing them in dustbin, “We would oppose the rulers vehemently.”
Nawaz said that seeds of extremism and terrorism were sown during dictatorship whereas the judges who had given relief to the dictators in past should be held accountable.
He said the PML-N had an agenda of economic reforms to consolidate the national economy and steer the country out of the economic quagmire.
Nawaz Sharif said that country was facing serious problems like terrorism, unemployment, poverty and energy crisis but the rulers were not ready to solve these problems. “The country is being ruined instead of being developed. “An atomic power is being weakened but the rulers are not changing their habit,” he said, advising the rulers not to test the patience of the whole nation.
He urged the nation to rise up against the status quo and help him overcome the situation. “May 28 reminds me of the day when Pakistan tested nuclear devices which gave confidence to the nation and defence of the country became invincible. But today, Pakistan is surrounded by dangers despite being a nuclear state,” he lamented.
“Mehran Base and Abbottabad incidents are clear attacks on the country’s security,” he said.
He further said that the present rulers helped the dictator who derailed a democratic government and presented him guard of honour. “Had the government of PML-N not been toppled, the country would have made more progress. There would have been a network of motorways in the country. Besides that, unemployment, poverty and energy crisis would have no place in the country. Pakistan, instead, would have been a strong and stable atomic and economic power,” he claimed.
Nawaz said nobody would be allowed to play with the country and all possible efforts would be made to regain its lost status in the comity of nations.
He stressed the need for breaking the begging bowl in the larger interest of the country. Large number of party workers and ordinary people were present on the occasion besides PML-N’s senior leaders. agencies
