Investigation team submits report regarding Harris Steel Mills case

ISLAMABAD: A high-powered investigation team which is probing the Rs 9 billion Harris Steel Mills loan scandal case, on Monday, submitted its report in the Supreme Court (SC) regarding the senior lawyers who were allegedly bribed by Shiekh Afzal, one of the main accused in the scandal.

Punjab Additional Inspector General, Aftab Sultan, the head of a joint investigation team, completed the investigation regarding the lawyers who were bribed by Shiekh Afzal, owner of Harris Steel Mills.

Sources told Daily Times that the investigation team had questioned seven lawyers about the case. According to a report by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented in the SC during the hearing of the Harris Steel Mills case last year, Advocate Irfan Qadir was the person facilitating contacts between the lawyers and Afzal in a bid to influence the outcome of the judicial proceedings.
