PML-N wants four new provinces

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz submitted a resolution in the National Assembly on Thursday calling for the creation of four new provinces in line with the aspirations of people of southern Punjab, former princely state of Bahawalpur, Hazara and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas. The resolution, which is expected to be brought before the National Assembly today (Friday), demanded creation of new provinces to further empower the people and facilitate administration and economic development in these areas. Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, termed the resolution on southern Punjab province a drama. Speaking to media outside the Parliament House, Nisar said no province could be created without consensus of all the political forces. He said the resolution on south Punjab was not aimed at creating a province instead it was an effort to create a dispute on the issue. staff report/online
