International Firefighters’ Day observed in Lahore
LAHORE: The Punjab Emergency Service observed International Firefighters’ Day on Friday to honour the efforts and sacrifices made by the staff of Rescue 1122 in helping people during emergencies. In this connection, a rally was taken out from the city district office on Ferozepur Road in which a large number of Rescue 1122 officials and a fleet of emergency vehicles participated. A prayer was offered for firefighters of Rescue 1122 who had laid down their lives in Ghakar Plaza Rawapindi tragedy while performing their duties. A Rescue 1122 official said that his organisation was striving for the establishment of an effective emergency system in Pakistan. Since its establishment in 2004, Rescue 1122 has responded to 8,439 fire incidents in the city, saving property and valuables worth millions of rupees, he said. staff report
