Entire Sindh suffering because of Lyari operation: SUP chief

KARACHI: Chairman Sindh United Party (SUP) Jalal Mehmood Shah said on Sunday that Lyari is the part of Sindh, if it was hurt, entire Sindh would feel the pain. This he said while addressing a protest demonstration against Lyari operation in front of Karachi Press Club. Several other speakers, including Acting Chairman Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz Dr Niaz Kalani, Workers Party leader Yusuf Masti Khan, Sindh National Movement chief Ali Hassan Chandio were also present. Shah said that 1.8 million people of Lyari were subjected to immense torture while an evil scheme was plotted against different Baloch groups so that they fight with each other. He said that over the years, different armed outfits had got the backing of influential politicians and the Lyari youth, which should have books in their hands were given guns instead. While criticising the role of PPP-led coalition government, he said that by ordering operation in Lyari, Pakistan Peoples’ Party had indeed humiliated the mandate of people of Lyari. He said that the elected representatives of violence-hit Lyari must resign immediately. SUP chief stressed on the point that the people of Sindh must unite in their cause, adding that violence was not the way of the people of Sindh as they were peace loving people. He said that violence would only bring more violence whereas peace attracted peace. He hailed that the conspiracies must be identified by the people of Sindh and they must continue their struggle with unity and peacefully. Acting chairman JSQM Dr Niaz Kalani alleged that Lyari operation was genocide of the people of Sindh. He said that an operation must be conducted against the government officials who had been exposed of their corrupt way of governance. He said that the drama of temporary suspension of operation must be stopped at once. He strongly condemned the operation and said that the genocide of Sindhis and Balochs must be stopped immediately. He said that the slain JSQM chairman Bashir Khan was a peace-loving citizen while the JSQM workers would also follow his footsteps. Sindh National Movement chief Ali Hassan Chandio said that due to handful criminals, entire population of Lyari was subjected to immense trouble, adding that the establishment would never succeed in its evil plots against Lyari. He said that the Lyari belongs to Sindhis and Balochs who were the real owners of Sindh. He said that they were with all those people who had been facing oppression at the hands of the establishment. He hailed that no one would be allowed to capture the resources of Sindh and Balochistan as they belonged to their people. ppi
