PML-N’s anti-govt rallies turn chaotic

GUJRANWALA/KARACHI: Internal scuffles, mismanagement and lack of zeal turned PML-N’s anti-government rallies chaotic on Sunday. The opposition party has announced countrywide protests against Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani following his conviction by the Supreme Court in a contempt of court case. In Gujranwala, PML-N organisers had made arrangements for around 8,000 to 10,000 people. Protesters demonstrated against the government by burning effigies, but an unruly crowd also caused problems at the venue. Members of the PML-N’s Youth Wing also scuffled with rally organisers when they tried to get on the stage. The PML-N also organised an anti-government rally at the Karachi Press Club on Sunday. But the show was marred by chaos leading to boycott by media personnel who were manhandled by unruly workers of the party. inp
