Imran takes both PPP, PML-N to taskISLAMABAD: Making a U-turn from his earlier stance of waiting until the Supreme Court (SC) issues detailed judgement in the contempt of court case against the prime minister, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday Yousaf Raza Gilani ceased to be prime minister after the court’s April 26 verdict. Addressing a rally, Imran Khan also warned rulers against harming the judiciary and vowed to launch a “tsunami” against them if the judiciary was ruined. Calling Gilani a “convicted” person, Imran said, “President Asif Zardari is responsible for drone strikes in Pakistan because, presently, there is no prime minister in the country after conviction of Yousaf Raza Gilani.” The PTI chief also rejected the recent National Assembly’s resolution in favour of the prime minister, saying, “Yousaf Raza Gilani should be ashamed of getting such a resolution passed from parliament against judgement of the Supreme Court.” “I don’t accept this resolution and it has no worth. If these parliamentary resolutions have any worth, drone strikes in Pakistan should have been stopped because parliament has adopted resolutions against such US attacks on Pakistan’s territory,” Imran said. He asked the prime minister why he was not writing a letter to Swiss authorities to open graft cases against the president. He added Gilani had been protecting “a thief and dacoit of the national exchequer by defying court orders”. Imran also came hard on PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and called upon him to resign from assemblies if his party was serious against “disastrous policies” of the government. He dubbed Nawaz Sharif a “paper tiger” and challenged him to hold public meetings in Quetta and Karachi where the PTI had organised public gatherings to show its strength. tanveer ahmed
